A newly circulating political survey is probing how Florida voters view the showdown between Ashley Moody and Alex Vindman for the Florida Senate, measuring voters’ familiarity with the Democratic challenger Vindman and their reactions to Moody’s political record.

The survey asks respondents: “Knowing what you know now, if the November 3rd General Election for U.S. Senate were held today, who would you vote for?”

The only candidates listed are Moody and Vindman. That matchup is notable because Vindman remains a relatively new figure in Florida politics despite carrying significant national name recognition.

A retired Army lieutenant colonel awarded a Purple Heart after being wounded in Iraq, Vindman rose to prominence during President Donald Trump’s first impeachment after reporting concerns about Trump’s dealings with Ukraine while serving on the National Security Council.

He announced his Senate campaign in January and formally filed in April.

Respondents are asked whether they have heard of Vindman, whether they hold a favorable opinion of him and whether they would consider supporting him for Senate. Similar questions are asked about Moody, who was appointed to the seat following Marco Rubio’s departure.

The questionnaire also evaluates which parts of Moody’s record resonate most with Floridians, focusing on hurricane recovery funding, fentanyl enforcement and consumer protection efforts.

The poll does not identify a sponsor.
