Gov. Ron DeSantis signed House Bill 445 Tuesday, known as Missy’s Law, and House Bill 1159 (sponsored by local Rep. Berny Jacques), legislation aimed at strengthening protections for children and increasing penalties for sexual offenses. The measures are intended to enhance accountability for offenders under Florida law. “The bill signing is a continuation of the great partnership between law enforcement and legislature when it comes to protecting kids at all costs,” Jacques said.
