Five Democratic state senators have endorsed Rep. Michele Rayner in her campaign for Florida Senate District 16, adding support from members of the chamber she hopes to join. Sens. LaVon Bracy Davis, Shervin Jones, Rosalind Osgood, Barbara Sharief and Carlos Guillermo Smith praised Rayner’s record on civil rights, healthcare, education and economic issues. Rayner faces House Democratic Leader Fentrice Driskell in the Aug. 18 Democratic primary for the open seat being vacated by term-limited Sen. Darryl Rouson.
