U.S. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna announced plans today for a new Air National Guard special tactics presence at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, following a directive from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. The unit would expand coordination with special operations forces and provide specialized search-and-rescue capabilities during hurricanes and other disasters, with implementation planned for fiscal year 2027.
