Castor rebukes Florida leaders for anti-vaccine push amid measles outbreak
U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor blasted Florida’s Surgeon General for calling to end childhood immunization safeguards, calling the move “reckless and harmful.” Castor noted that for years, the Surgeon General and Governor Ron DeSantis have spread anti-vaccine misinformation that put families at risk, contributing to needless suffering during the Covid-19 pandemic. “This policy is a setback to public health and an insult to families who deserve science-based leadership,” Castor said. With the U.S. facing one of the largest measles outbreaks in decades, she urged parents to rely on pediatricians and trusted medical organizations, not partisan politics, to protect their children.
