Rep. Castor fights FEMA cuts amid hurricane fears
“No one is confident under the Trump administration that FEMA is in a position to handle a catastrophe like the one we had last year,” said Rep. Kathy Castor, reflecting on hurricanes Debby, Helene, and Milton, during a Sept. 8 conference. As Florida faces another hurricane season, the threat of DOGE cuts to FEMA raises concerns that resources will not be available if another disaster strikes. Regarding these concerns, Castor said, “We’re going to fight for emergency response and preparation to stay strong.”
