Kathy Castor, Don Bacon and Kim Schrier have reintroduced the bipartisan PREVENT HPV Cancers Act, which would expand national education efforts on HPV and improve access to cervical cancer screening for uninsured and underserved patients. The bill aims to raise awareness among health providers, parents and the public about HPV immunization, which protects against multiple cancer types. Roughly 39,000 HPV-associated cancers occur each year in the United States, yet vaccination rates remain lower than other routine immunizations. The legislation has support from a wide range of medical and cancer-prevention organizations.
