Affordable Care Act tax credits expire overnight

Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits expired at midnight Dec. 31, leaving nearly 5 million Floridians to make due without health insurance, or with doubled premiums on their monthly bills. Last year, congressional Democrats pushed to extend ACA tax credits, resulting in the longest government shutdown in U.S. history. Despite the ACA’s popularity and Floridians’ over-represented reliance on ACA plans, no compromise was reached in Washington, nor was a replacement program solidified, negatively affecting families and businesses across the nation.
