Why are you running for office?
I’m seeking reelection because it’s important to have advocates for every student on the board. One who supports public education and is heavily invested in positive outcomes. I have challenged the status quo and stood on my own advocating for issues, at times. I have built consensus on a local and state level which has influenced outcomes. The leadership roles I’ve been appointed to have enhanced my leadership ability and logic. I will continue to advocate for all students, ask questions and provide a perspective that combines my experience and education.
What is your top priority on day 1?
Having the honor to serve on the board currently. I am the Vice Chairperson and President of the Greater Florida Consortium which, advocates legislatively for 10 districts. My top priority continues to be ensuring every child receives a high quality education while navigating legislative and fiscal challenges. This is often on my mind.
Other than your day 1 priority, what keeps you up at night?
N/A
What’s something you’ve heard from residents that really stuck with you?
I have heard from residents their appreciation of me being personable. Attending school and community events as well as, working to address their concerns.
For the seat you’re seeking, what is something you wish government did more of?
I wish the government would emphasize separation between church and state and fully fund public schools.
For the seat you’re seeking, what is something you wish government did less of?
I wish the government had less control of local school boards and stopped the rhetoric.
How will you measure your success?
I measure my success by asking questions, advocating, changing policies and procedures. All of these items I’ve accomplished. Most importantly, is hearing from students, staff, parents and stakeholders.
How do you recharge when you're not campaigning or working?
I go to the beach.
